HU-THT-10 - Setup Guides - Victron setup with a Cloudlink

Overview

On a Victron site with Hubble batteries and a Cloudlink, the Cloudlink will communicate with the battery via their RS232 serial ports. The Cloudlink will communicate with the inverter via the Cerbo/Venus-GX device over a CAN bus.

Victron Setup with a Cloudlink

First setup the battery comms cables and dip-switches as per the instructions for the battery brand on our website.

Note that the DIP switch addressing positions for the AM5 and AM10s differ to that of the AM2s and AM4s.

Comms Cabling

· Serial cable (RJ12 to RJ12) from master battery's RS232 port to the cloudlink's S-Port.

· CAN cable (Victron Type B cable) from the Cerbo's VE.CAN port to the cloudlink's CAN port

Cloudlink Setup

Device Settings

· CAN SPEED: 500k

· CAN MODE: Victron

· CAN CONN TO: Inverter

· RS485 CONN TO: Nothing

· SERIAL CONN TO: Battery

· ADAPTIVE LIMITS: Enable ONLY if the Cloudlink FW is >= 4.6.0, otherwise leave it disabled.

Site Settings

· Number of Inverters: site dependant

· Inverter Type: Victron

· Inverter Model: site dependant (this is the rating per inverter)

· ...

· Battery Capacity: site dependant (this is the rating per battery, not the full capacity installed)

Victron Setup · Please see our website (https://www.hubblelithium.co.za/victron) but here are some key points

· Enable DVCC

· Confirm that the Battery's brand name appears under the Cerbo's Device List

· Click on the battery/BMS row and confirm that the Parameters menu show the expected Charge Voltage Limit, Charge Current Limit, etc.
